RAF Northolt
RAF Northolt in West London is one of the oldest RAF stations in Britain and one of the most operationally enduring, having served continuously from its establishment in 1915 through both world wars, the Cold War, and into the present day. During the Battle of Britain it was a frontline Fighter Command station credited with 14 destroyed enemy aircraft in a single day. Today it serves as a base for VIP and government transport flights, military training, and is the second-busiest airport in the London area after Heathrow.
